Peter Adams first appeared in the underground scene in 2005 with his self-released album The Spiral Eyes. Written, recorded, produced and distributed entirely by himself, the album mixed the folk-psychadelia of Neutral Milk Hotel, the playful inventions of the Beatles, and the technical complexity of Radiohead into a truly unique musical experience. Without any kind of help from record labels or traditional modes of distribution, Adams connected directly to fans who discovered his music over the Internet and helped his music spread through word of mouth.

With the help of his band the Nocturnal Collective, Adams has been playing shows around his native Cincinnati as well as traveling cross-country to Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and South by Southwest in Austin over the last two years. His highly-anticipated second album, I Woke With Planets In My Face, was released on May 13, 2008.

"With all the drama of an ethereal movie soundtrack, Adams' songs brilliantly merge his classical training (he started playing violin at age three) and the inevitable teen-punk backlash. On his latest, I Woke With Planets In My Face, out this spring, the hyperliterate Adams composes folksy pop tunes solo and translates them into full-band symphonies."

-Spin, March 2008

"Adams has a versatile vocal range, with his tingly falsetto ranking up there with Chris Martin of Coldplay or Matthew Caws of Nada Surf for pure thrill-factor."

- Mike Breen, CityBeat

"Peter Adams' songs are at once catchy, thoughtful, multi-layered and atmospheric. Did we mention the kid's 22 and did it all himself? Wow..."

- Amplifier, March/April 2006

"The album's dozen tracks include moments of Radiohead's exquisitely crafted chamber angst, Jeff Magnum's chemically-altered, wide-eyed wonder, Jeff Buckley's angelic introspection and the Flaming Lips' finest flights of orchestral fancy."

- Corey duBrowa, Magnet, Oct/Nov 2006

"Top 10 to Watch in 2007"
