These are exciting times to be a musician. The Internet has radically changed the way music is produced, distributed, and consumed. The handful of corporations that have controled the music market in the past are now figuring how they can continue to make money in an environment where many people view music as something that is acquired quickly and cheaply and shared freely with friends. It is an environment where people are being exposed to all types of music they normally would never have found.

The ease of spreading music is not a cause for concern or a reason for lawsuits or annoying digital-rights encryption. I can write a song, record it on my computer, mix and master it myself, post it on my site, and connect directly with fans in a way that obviates traditional record labels. Instead of having to bombard someone with marketing to get them to buy music, I rely on fans who send it to friends who are then free to give a listen.

Of course, musicians still need to make a living and earn money, and playing shows alone hardly pays the bills. I hope that if you decide to try (or have already received) my music for free and you it enjoy it, to either make a donation or consider purchasing a CD or other merchandise.
